The 1341 amplifier was one of the first of what I've
come to call a one-cycle amp; it
existed for only one major catalog cycle, and was never seen again. This one was
interesting because it previewed the alligator/tweed trim combo from the
upcoming 133X series, introduced in the next catalog in Spring/Summer 1954.
Speaking of the catalog listing, I passed over this lone listing seen at left as
just another 1340 listing, until I found pictures of the 1341 you see in the
grass. Upon further examination, voila... another oddball, and rare, Silvertone
amp.
Introduced/Retired:
Spring/Summer 1954 at $39.95
as the 57 H 01341
Even though this amp had a brief availability window, it was
the shape of things to come on the low end, as well as in the mainstream of the
upcoming 133X line. Dano took the rounded cabinet look and the smaller speaker
'window' and made it a bit less decorative (read cheaper) and came up
with the long-running 1330 series, available in 1954.
