Jeff Ament, the man who holds down the bottom line for Pearl Jam, plays a variety of basses, from vintage to custom. I followed PJ around a bit in '98 and '00, and noticed what appeared to be a souped-up Silvertone in Jeff's hands for a good portion of most nights. My eyes were right as far as the look, but the bass itself is made by the good folks at Modulus, and is, indeed, a clone of the 1443. Better hardware, Bartolini pickups, but the paint job, pickguard, balance, and look of a classic Silvertone.
