~ If I Can't Hold You (2016 Version) ~

I hope you've been having a fine, festive time with the Randy Little Christmas Advent Calendar. I certainly have, and we're gettin' in the short rows, as the farmers say . . .  only a handful of days left. It's been a while since any new RLC material was recorded, but that's gonna change for the 20th Anniversary of the 2-CD set back in 1997.

So, imagine my surprise last week when RLC alumnus Buck Down messaged me with news of a . . .  well, here . . .  you read it.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"for years now - every time our track from “Randy Little Christmas” starts making the rounds on the holidays, barbara and i will text or email each other with something to the effect of “that’s a really great number. we should do a big production recording of that one day.”
and then we never do. until this year.
so here ya go. i’m not sure how catholic you are about songs not recorded on your living room being added to the canon - but for what its worth - it wouldn’t exist at all if it wasn’t for RLC.
both barbara and i have both wandered off far from our dirty little seaport town traveling the world and blessed enough to still be making music professionally all the 23 years since the original recording of this track - so i guess now this version is a little holiday love song to you and all our other friends and family back in norfolk (or wherever else they may have roamed)
merry christmas from buck and barbara. thanks for being you."
Wow! Thank you BOTH. So, here ya go . . .  Bonus Round RLC Music;
the brand-spankin'-new full-band version of "If I Can't Hold You."
Enjoy!
For those of you curious about matters operational, Buck explains how this track came to be:
"Over the internets . . .  I tracked out all of the instruments and my vocal here at my place in LA and then sent a mix to Barbara in Austin. She sent me back just her isolated vocal track and I dropped it in and did the final mix here, inclusive of adding the sound of the good old Norfolk Southern train back at the end. Dave Collins (who's got walls full of platinum and gold records (www.davecollinsmastering.com) did the master, and that as we say in the business of show, was a wrap."
