I quickly but carefully opened the envelope that I had taken from the mailbox, as I had seen the return address was Doug Tulloch, Neptune Bound's author. I was totally unprepared for the hefty volume that I now held in my hands. "Wow," I said to myself, " 'Guitars from Neptune' didn't even break 100 pages, and now I've got a 400+ page book devoted to nothing but Danelectro guitars!" My excitement didn't fade as I turned throught the pages: An introduction from Nathaniel Daniel's son, Howard! Beautiful pictures! Great Organization! Catalog reprints! Industry ads! Vinnie Bell! Photos of the Dano factories, inside and out! Amazing prototypes and one-off models! Twenty pages of Silvertones! Internal construction pictures!

Neptune Bound is a book you'll come back to time and time again; an excellent addition to your guitar library, and a terrific reference for hard info, remembering, showing off, dreaming and just a lot of fun!

One side note: If you're getting this book for your younger picker, there is a 'centerfold' of sorts of the infamous 'Danelectro Girls,' a show band that played topless. Do a Google image search for 'Danelectro Girls' and you'll see what I'm taking about. There are two full page photos of the band, and the pictures are certainly mild and in good fun, but the ladies are topless. Forewarned is forearmed.
